“The more I live, the younger I am.” Advanced Génifique

Lancôme Advanced Génifique  (Youth Activating Concentrate Serum) does not come cheap. It is a luxury product and therefore it comes at a price. I have been using this product every day now for the past 2 months and I continue to use it because it really has been working for me. It’s not easy finding products that deliver on the promises they make and I have had such unbelievable results which is why I would absolutely love to share my story with you…

My story:

I’ve been struggling with dry skin for a while now since being a student. I’m not sure if it’s been caused by stress, lack of sleep or that I’ve been using all the wrong products but I’m sure it’s probably caused by a mixture of a whole lot of things. I have been feeling that my skin had lacked moisture and therefore was not as soft and as smooth as my skin from the neck down. I’ve tried all the obvious remedies, I started drinking more water, I tried different facial masks and the list goes on; but there was little to no improvement.

My dry skin days are behind me now all thanks to Lancôme, Advanced Génifique! My skin is glowing and feeling so supple and highly moisturized. It feels so great to not have to worry about the condition of my skin! I started seeing results within the first few days of using the product and it continues to deliver everyday.

Appearance:

I love the classic and minimal appearance of the packaging. The glass bottle really adds to the luxury of the product. The pump dispenses the perfect about of product, preventing product waste and making application easier.

It comes in:

30ml – R780

50ml – R1060

How to use it:

Apply about three drops of Advanced Génifique Serum evenly across your face and neck and gently massage into skin.

Why this product is a must-have:

Advanced Génifique Serum targets the 10 key signs of youthful-looking skin: texture, resiliency, elasticity, firmness, sagginess, fine lines, wrinkles, radiance, even skin tone, clarity.

  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Improves the appearance of radiance, clarity, firmness, evenness in skin tone and texture.

If you have any questions about the product or if you have been trying the product out, please let me know how it has been working for you in the comment section below!

High Tea with a side of lip gloss & nail lacquer?

I attended a media launch with my boss lady, Liezel van der Westhuizen, in May which took place in the form of a high tea. Beauty & Hair products were beautifully laid out in the center of the table where we were all seated. The products were however not laid out in vain, we were able to play around with each product and because of the very interactive atmosphere which was created, we were able to ask questions and really familiarize ourselves with not only each product but also with the brands.

Smith & Cult

Smith and Cult was created by a legend, Dineh Mohajer, who is also responsible for revolutionizing the colour cosmetics industry when she launched Hard Candy in 1995.

“Smith & Cult represents the duality we all inhabit throughout our lives and our individual expressions of beauty, which reflect who we’ve been, are and aspire to become…”

Smith and Cult’s product range covers the following:

  • Nails
  • Eyes
  • Lips

When being introduced to the brand for the first time my first thoughts were that not only was the packaging delightful, but that the product that was visible through the packaging was also so striking, thanks to the bold and vibrant hues of the product itself.

I was absolutely obsessed with all the unique and quirky names of each shade in their nail lacquer colour range!

Here’s a list of some of the shades:

  • Bitter Buddhist
  • Stockholm Syndrome
  • Kundalini Hustle
  • Psycho Candy
  • Doe my dear
  • Pillow Pie

Smith and Cult’s nail range for me was definitely what stood out.

“Smith & Cult’s Nailed Lacquer consistently delivers both flawlessly smooth coverage and brilliant shine. While custom tailored to provide high performance, the exclusive 8-Free formula is formulated without Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Camphor, Xylene, Ethyl Tosylamide or Triphenyl Phosphate…”

Oribe

Oribe Hair Care was founded by renowned editorial and celebrity hairstylist Oribe along-side Daniel Kaner and Tev Finger. They believe that healthy hair is the underpinning for sexy, glamorous styling. I completely agree with them! One’s hair is one’s shining glory and I believe that if your hair looks and feels great, you feel great!

image2

“Oribe Hair Care’s award-winning packaging was designed to make the experience of using the products as beautiful as the formulas themselves. Every detail was carefully crafted and nuanced, from the shape of each bottle to the eco-friendly boxes sourced from well-managed forests and printed with vegetable inks. The architectural facets and striking jewel tones perfectly blend old-world heritage with modern elegance…”

Overall, I am really excited about these products and it’s success in South Africa. I am loving my new lip gloss by Smith and Cult and hope to add more of these exciting products to my private stash really soon!

GLAM UP WITH STACY-ROBIN

PicsArt_03-13-05.38.50
Tracy rocked my makeup look at a friends wedding this past weekend.

I love what I do and seeing that my clients are extremely happy with my work is just the absolute best feeling! One of my beautiful and loyal clients is a gorgeous boss lady by the name of Tracy-lee Rosslind. She needed her makeup done for a wedding and wanted to go full on glam for the day. I created this specific look on Tracy because she had the perfect canvas for it! I have very small eyelids so when I get the opportunity to work with a lot of eye space I take full advantage of that!

If you do have smaller lids like myself, have no fear, I have worked on many different eye shapes and I will always work on a look which is best suited to you and to bring out your best features.

Who wasn’t at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Media Launch?! The launch was a success and brought together everybody who is anybody! I always love seeing so many familiar faces and my beautiful friends and clients!

Selfie with my other half, Liezel van der Westhuizen

I attended the event with my always beautiful bosslady Liezel van der Westhuizen whom I also dolled up for the evening. I styled her in a black bandage bralette and matching bandage skirt. Over this I styled her in a stunning olive green mesh top and an edgy black leather shoulder shawl by Erre, all of which can be found at The Bromwell based in Woodstock. For her makeup, I did my signature brow and went full on glamour on her eyes with a smokey glitter look and dramatic lashes. How gorgeous does she look??!!

#ShimmyHighGnT

High Tea? No no no, I’m more interested in Shimmy’s ‘High GnT’!

Today I styled Liezel in this Gorgeous blue and white pin stripe shirt dress with an off the shoulder detail and buttoned up features on sleeve and side seam. I got this quirky yet extremely chic creation from The Bromwell, which I do suggest you check out if you’re looking for timeless pieces to add to your wardrobe that are both classic and bold. I finished off this look with a pair of white sneakers and a lovely straw hat that I pulled from my closet.

For Liezel’s makeup, I went with chizzled cheekbones, a natural eye with long lush lashes, a bold brow and a dark statement lip. Liezel looked absolutely ravashing (as usual).

Remember to check out ‘Contact’ in the menu bar for more info on how you can book me to do your makeup.

The event itself was spectactular! I loved the overall mood that was created through the decor and the live performances and not to mention the location! Shimmy is such a beautiful venue located by the sea, which alone is already all you could ask for.

The layout of all the treats presented at the focal point of the room was absolutely devine! My eyes were at disbelief. If I had not been wearing my favourite false lashes by Eyelure, I would have probably quite literally had to rub my eyes to make sure I was seeing correctly. Unfortunately I had given up chocolate for Lent so I had to suck it up, deal with it in the best possible way I knew how…. I ate everything else!

What’s a High GnT without some refreshing non-alcoholic gin & tonic and I quote, is crafted with aromatic botanical extracts. It’s an elegant, sugar-free alternative to alcohol! So yummy! I recommend you go check them out for yourself and let me know what you think in the comment box below.

BOKEH FASHION FILM FESTIVAL ’17 MEDIA LAUNCH

Thanks to my incredible boss Liezel van der Westhuizen, I am able to attend many fabulous events and on Tuesday we attended the Bokeh Fashion Film Festival Media Launch! Oh how I love my job!

I rarely wear heels as I lack the co-ordination skills needed for such an intricate device (shall we call it that?), so it was quite fun to get my heels out for this event and test the waters!

The Film

We got a sneak peak at what we can be expecting at this year’s Bokeh Fashion Film Festival and my oh my, our local talent here in South Africa is absolutely exceptional. I was blown away by each composition and by the standard of work. I love seeing local creatives raising the bar high and inspiring others in the industry to push boundaries and think ahead of what everyone else is doing.

Live art, fashion, film, beautiful people, fantastic goodie bags and ice-lollies? Now that’s my kind of event! Overall, the launch was amazing! I am so excited about this year’s talent and am looking forward to the main event. Will I see you there?!

LEXUS SOUTH AFRICAN MENSWEAR WEEK A/W’17 DAY 2

DAY TWO

samw

The Venue

The rest of SAMW A/W’17 was held on location at The Palms in Woodstock. South African Menswear Week is often held at the Green Point Stadium so this new venue was certainly a breath of fresh air. The venue was very inviting and cosy compared to the huge facilities and cold concrete floors at the stadium. I must say, I sure missed the spacious areas and the cool atmosphere provided by those concrete floors when I stepped backstage. There was an overwhelming heat wave backstage and not much space to move around or work in. I take my hat off to the crew who managed to pull off their artistic visions in these not very ideal conditions.

The Fashion

When attending SAMW A/W’17 I’m always waiting in anticipation for 2 of my favourite designers Rich Mnisi and Tokyo James but found myself mesmerized by quite a few of the designers whom I feel created wearable art pieces. I was so amazed and impressed by our local menswear designers this year!

LEXUS SOUTH AFRICAN MENSWEAR WEEK A/W ’17 DAY 1

DAY ONE

As some of you may know, I work for a gorgeous pixie blonde, Liezel van der Westhuizen. One of the many perks of my job is that I get to socialize within Liezel’s social circle. I was so excited to find out that I would be meeting menswear designer Craig Jacobs, and would be assisting him the day before the show during fittings where needed alongside Liezel. I was able to put my designer hand at work and had the honour of helping maintain the quality and fit of the garments for the show.

The show took place offsite at Merchants on Long in lower long street. Invited guests arrived to an interesting and quaint venue where they began with the traditional pre-show socializing as the hype of SAMW A/W’17 started to kick in.

The collection was vibrant and consisted of a variety of African inspired prints pulled together with ‘sporty’ styling and dramatic eye makeup created by M.A.C Cosmetics which I found complimented the looks well. It was overall, a fun evening spent with amazing people. The venue ended up being a success as it was First Thursday and after the show guests could continue in the spirit of the day and walk around town exploring different social and art scenes in and around town.

Ended off the night at Tiger’s Milk in Long Street with a yummy BarOne milkshake and fabulous company!

Upside-down Inside-out

I was in complete awe on receiving a message from Tracy-Lee Rosslind via Instagram a couple of months ago as I truly admire her so much. I previously told myself “One day I will work with her!” but little did I know that that “One day” was fast approaching…

I love attending events within the industry such as fashion shows and collection launches, events that Tracy would often attend as well. At each event I would wander around the venue keeping a close lookout for her with my phone ready in hand. Why you might ask, “to take a selfie?” No, although those who know me well would know that the thought had definitely crossed my mind [laughs]… On my phone I had an image of an illustration that I had done of her which I wanted to show her since previous attempts via social media was unsuccessful. Sadly our paths never crossed despite being at the same place at the same time until I found myself staring at a message from hers truly Tracy-Lee Rosslind.

“Hi Stacy, my name is Tracy-Lee Rosslind. I am a stylist and TV presenter and I discovered one of your pieces online last night and fell in love.”

[attached photo of my design]

“I was hoping I could source this for Johannesburg Fashion Week…”

As you can imagine, I was absolutely ecstatic! I put together 2 looks for her, one being my leather 2-piece ensemble as requested by her and another look that I packed in as an extra. Both were ready for collection the next morning by Tracy herself.

screenshot_2016-11-24-13-15-29

She headed off to Johannesburg and my looks ended up being a success! I was keeping a close eye on her social media as I was eager to see what she looked like and how she had styled it.

She ended up wearing not only the leather ensemble but also the bodysuit which I packed in as a backup. It was a black silk corseted bodysuit with crochet bottoms and detailing. As expected from a true Stylist such as Tracy, she as always put her own spin on it and decided to wear my design inside out! The lining of my bodysuit was a bright floral print that only Tracy could pull off!

I feel so blessed knowing that Tracy, someone whom I admire, wore not 1 but 2 of my looks!

What ever happened to that illustration I had done of her you might ask? I sent it to her and it was up on her Instagram the next morning!
